To no one’s surprise, the members of SB19 have dominated the 10th Wish Music Awards –– taking home a total of two major awards as a group, and six individual major awards.
On January 19, 2025, the Kings of P-pop demonstrated their impressive resonance with both fans and industry insiders alike as they took home the major awards of Wish Song Collaboration of the Year for “Kalakal” with Gloc-9, Wishclusive Ballad Performance of the Year for “ILAW”, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Yet aside from their accomplishments as a group, their solo members still emerged victorious at the show, with FELIP bagging the Wish Rock/Alternative Song of the Year award for “Kanako”, Josh Cullen winning Wish Hip-Hop Song of the Year for “GET RIGHT”, PABLO winning the coveted Wish Artist of the Year, and Stell being awarded the Wish Ballad Song of the Year for the Ryan Cayabyab-written “Di Ko Masabi”, the Wishers Choice Award, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
As the recipients of tonight’s major awards, SB19 are also set to receive an honorarium of Php 100,000 from the Wish Music Awards to their chosen charities of the Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment (L.I.F.E.) and PGH Foundation, Enhancing Nurturing Dsciplining Empowering Restoring Daycare Inc. (IT Tender) [FELIP], and the Center for Excellence in Special Education (Stepping Stone) Foundation, Inc. [Stell]. alongside a cash prize of PHP 25,000 to be given to them as the winning artists themselves per award.
In addition to these wins, SB19 were also nominated for Wish Group of the Year, with Justin also earning a well-deserved nomination for his solo single “Kaibigan” in the Wish Pop Song of the Year category, as well as PABLO also getting a nod for “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” as Wish Ballad Song of the Year.
Other notable winners throughout the night included the Nation’s Girl Group BINI for Wish Group of the Year, Wish Pop Song of the Year for “Pantropiko”, and Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year for “Karera”, while rising R&B sensation Dionela was honored with the highly coveted Wish R&B Song of the Year for his chart-topping hit “sining” featuring Jay R. The latter also took home an additional award for the Wishclusive R&B Performance of the Year for his hit track, “Guiding Star.”
Fellow R&B singer Arthur Nery also bagged the trophy for the Wish Contemporary R&B Song of the Year for “Segundo, Siguro”, while ska-rock sensations Dilaw took home the award for Wishclusive Rock/Alternative Performance of the Year for their live rendition to “Orasa.”
Established in 2016, the Wish Music Awards — also known as the WMAs — are annual music awards presented by local FM radio station Wish 107.5, which highlight the works of Filipino artists across various genres for their musical achievements in the past year or so. This year’s iteration of the famed awards show marks its tenth iteration, honoring over 70 musical acts across 19 nominations.
