The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards is upon us and it wouldn’t be short with must-watch performances from some of the biggest names in music today. The ceremony, presented by MTV and hosted by LL Cool J, will be held on September 8 (PH Time), and will be available for streaming on Paramount+.

Sabrina Carpenter will be among the performers at the star-studded ceremony, where she is also tied for the second-most nominations among female artists, with eight, matching BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ. Leading the pack is Lady Gaga, who tops the list with an impressive twelve nominations.

Carpenter herself is nominated for Best Pop Artist, a new category. Her single Manchild received nods for Video of the Year, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Pop, while Short ‘n Sweet is up for Best Album.

Joining the Grammy-winning pop star in the first wave of announced performers are sombr, Alex Warren, J Balvin, DJ Snake, Ricky Martin, Busta Rhymes, and Latin musicians Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez.

sombr is breaking through the music industry as of late. He is also nominated for Best New Artist and Best Alternative for his Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart-breaker, “back to friends.”

Meanwhile, J Balvin is nominated for Best Latin Song for his track “Rio,” while Alex Warren joins sombr as a Best New Artist nominee and earned nominations for his song “Ordinary” in Song of the Year and Best Pop categories.

Latin pop music icon Ricky Martin, who returns to the VMA stage to perform, will be honored with the first-ever Latin Icon Award, while rap legend Busta Rhymes, will receive the MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award.
