Sabrina Carpenter is cheekier than ever on her newly released record, Man’s Best Friend.

With contributions from Jack Antonoff, John Ryan, and Amy Allen, the highly anticipated album features a total of twelve brand new tracks –– including the global chart-topper, “Manchild.” Unlike what many have expected, Man’s Best Friend features quite the departure from the heavy country-pop sound of her prior work (aside from its lead single) as it embraces a more ’80s synth-pop sonic palette akin to that of ABBA, with bits and pieces of R&B sprinkled in. The production is even more lush and layered(with a sense of grandeur) this time around , while its lyricism is even more witty and sensual than ever before.

Together with the album’s release on physical, digital, and streaming platforms, an accompanying music video for the record’s second single, “Tears”, was also dropped online. Directed by Bardia Zeinali, the cinematic visualizer pays homage to the cult-classic film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and features a special guest appearance from Academy-Award nominated actor, Colman Domingo. Man’s Best Friend follows the critically and commercially acclaimed Short n’ Sweet, which won Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso” at the 67th Grammy Awards earlier this year. The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon it’s release, and spawned several hit singles –– including “Espresso”, “Please, Please, Please”, and “Juno”, among others.

On the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart, Carpenter’s “Manchild” peaked at No. 5, and has spent a total of eleven weeks straight on the chart. The track became a viral overnight sensation overnight, and was utilized in hundreds of thousands of videos on social media –– sparking numerous trends and dance challenges with the singular track alone.
