British alternative indie group PREP has just announced the release of a new single titled “GETAWAY, which will feature a special guest appearance from Thai singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit.
The forthcoming collaboration was revealed via PREP’s official Instagram, wherein the band posted the single’s artwork, together with some details as to how the song came together over time. “We wrote this song with Phum in Bangkok, finished it a year later in Paris, and now we can finally play it to you guys”, the band mentioned in their caption. Teasing the upcoming release further, they conclude the post by describing the track as a “a cool little bop, [we] hope you like it”.
“GETAWAY” is set to be officially released this February 21 (Wednesday) on all digital and streaming platforms, and follows their recently released singles “Open Up” and “One Day At A Time” which came out last 2023. In 2022, the band dropped their fourth EP, Back To You, as well as their delightful rendition of Harry Styles’ “As It Was” –– which has currently amassed more than 34 million streams and counting. The funky four-piece also last graced the Philippines in that same year, marking another sold-out show in the Philippines at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in Taguig.
Just recently, Viphurit collaborated with Masiwei and 88rising’s futuristic music collective 1999 Write The Future on the track “STeACKFACe**”, which was released as part of the group’s debut mixtape, hella (˃╭̣ ╮˂̣)✧♡‧o·, which dropped earlier this month on February 9, 2024. Additionally, Viphurit also partnered up with trop-pop duo Summer Salt for the track “Coming Home Isn’t Easy“, which came out in the latter half of January of this year.
As we anticipate the release of the upcoming track, feel free to revisit the magic of PREP’s cover of “As It Was”:
