We just can’t get enough of Phum’s new playful identity, Paul Vibhavadi.
Earlier at noon today, Phum Viphurit debuted his new single, “Balter Baby,” in tandem with a music video. This funky disco track is the second single to preview the Thai indie pop singer’s upcoming EP, PAUL VIBHAVADI VOL. 1, which is scheduled for release on October 17. To accompany this fully instrumental track is a narrative music video, where an animated version of the singer’s alter ego Paul Vibhavadi is brought to life.
Fleshing out the events of the music video into words, the video’s description says, “Paul’s warps into a low-poly video game world where he tries to escape the sloth tribe’s ritual. Overwhelmed by trance and rhythm, Paul must dance his way to freedom.” The video takes its audience on a Crash Bandicoot-esque nostalgia trip sprinkled with motifs of other vintage video games, like earlier versions of the classic Dance Dance Revolution.
This follows the release of his prior single for the upcoming EP, “The Other Side,” where he initially introduced the character of Paul Vibhavadi.
