ONE OK ROCK are coming back with a new album next year.
On December 5, the J-rock veterans announced the forthcoming release of a new album, entitled DETOX. Their 11th studio album overall, it serves as the highly anticipated follow-up to 2022’s Luxury Disease and is set to come out on February 21, 2025. Notably, its release will also coincide with the same year as the band’s 20th anniversary. Pre-save the album here.
Alongside announcing the forthcoming album, ONE OK ROCK’s have also released a new single, entitled “+Matter.” It joins the band’s two other singles released this year, “Delusion: All” and “Dystopia.” Prior to its release, the quartet had already incorporated “+Matter” into their concert setlists, performing it live for the first time earlier last November on their ‘Premonition’ world tour across eight major shows in seven different countries.
The band is also set to release an accompanying music video for “+Matter” later today (December 6) at 10:00 PM (PHT). Tune in to the premiere on their official YouTube channel here.
According to an official release statement from the band, the album was created with the help of “a number of acclaimed producers,” which includes three-time Grammy winner Rob Cavallo (Green Day) and Grammy nominees Dan Lancaster (Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182) and Pete Nappi (Jon Batiste).
Much like all of their albums since 2015’s 35xxxv, the quartet is slated to release DETOX in two versions: an international variant with all-English lyrics and a Japanese one with a mix of Japanese and English lyrics.
Formed in 2005, ONE OK ROCK are widely recognized as one of Japan’s biggest rock bands. They are best known for such hits as “The Beginning,” “Wherever you are,” “Wasted Nights,” “We Are,” and more. Notably, they are also well-known for having provided the theme songs for the popular live-action film series Rurouni Kenshin, based on best-selling manga of the same name.
Last September 2023, the band held a sold-out Manila concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City as part of their world tour in support of their 10th studio album Luxury Disease. It marked their third overall concert in the Philippines, following their 2018 one in support of their album Ambitions and their debut Manila show in 2015 in support of 35xxxv. The band was also set to hold a concert in Manila in 2020 as part of their ‘Eye Of The Storm’ world tour, but was inevitably cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
