Filipino alt-pop trio NEW LORE return with their latest single, “girlhood,” released on May 8, as part of the rollout of their forthcoming album GOOD GOOD JUJU.
Following their previously released singles including “substack girl,” “i know u by heart,” and “nariyan,” the newly released track serves as the fourth preview of the band’s follow-up to grief cake, their debut album which dropped in August 2025. “girlhood” embraces what the trio describe as “softcore love,” a quiet, intimate kind of affection built on emotional safety, shared values, and small rituals rather than grand spectacle.
Built around a chill beat and soft high synths, the song captures the tenderness of modern connection through vivid and playful lyricism. Keeping with their trendy vocabulary, the alt-pop group sings about a “journal and flea market girly,” gushing over their “shared philosophy” and “softcore love chemistry.”
Arriving with an accompanying music video, NEW LORE — composed of Tita Halaman on vocals and guitar, Kim Escalona on bass, and Carole Lantican on drums — are shown performing inside an elevator through close-up shots and fisheye lens frames. Donning their signature, bright blue ensemble, the all-female trio references the film 500 Days Of Summer during the intro of the “girlhood” music video.
