LONER (also known as Lean Ordinario) has just dropped his latest EP titled DROPSTAR.

The dreamy electro-pop record was released independently and showcases production, mixing, and mastering efforts all executed by LONER himself. Within its five tracks, the project explores complex themes of confusion, isolation, and self-doubt — all of which are expressed through a techno landscape that encourages people to move on the dancefloor as a means of liberation.

DROPSTAR was preceded by the release of its impressive lead single, “Stop Playing,” and follows after his string of 2023 singles “Ikaw Pa Rin,” “Ayoko Na,” “Away From U,” and “Not 2 Much.” The release of the EP marks his latest record since his sophomore album, Make Noise, which was released in 2021. He was also recently included in the 2023 Sounds Nais electronic music compilation alongside Tarsius and other artists.

LONER first appeared on the local music scene with the release of his debut album No Fidelity, which dropped in 2018. The record dabbled within the confines of the bedroom pop genre, experimenting with slowed-down beats and synth work that felt more reminiscent of the lo-fi sound of that period. However, it was during his breakout extended play, Into Midnight, wherein he began to toy around with the genres of house and dance music, making a name for himself as one of the most promising and innovative pop musicians of this generation.
