Lisa has evolved from her status as a Rockstar.

Today (November 14), it was revealed that the world-renowned pop icon made her debut as the first-ever global cover star on Billboard. She is currently starring on 10 digital covers of the publication’s different editions worldwide — Billboard U.S., Arabia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Español, Italy, Korea, and the Philippines. As the Blackpink member continues to dominate pop culture as we know it, Lisa has been established as a trailblazer breaking the barriers between K-pop and the Western mainstream.

In the cover story tied to her global cover, the rapper extraordinaire delved into her journey as a solo artist, “At first, I was scared and nervous because I never really come out here to do my own stuff,” she said, before lowering her voice as if she’s not supposed to say what comes next. “And now I’m having fun,” she whispered. “When [my singles] came out, the reaction from the fans, it’s healing me. It’s like, ‘Oh, my God. Yeah — I did a great job!’ ”

She also touched on finding herself outside of her venture with Blackpink, “In Blackpink, I’m a rapper, so I always rap,” she said. “But now it’s a chance for me to show the world that I’m capable of [so much more].” Nevertheless, she opened up about the bonds the group’s members continue to share, “We know each other so well and know how much energy we have to put into every single project, so we want to support and say, ‘You did really well!’ Like, Jennie and Rosie just released their own songs, and we’re on texts, we’re on FaceTime. They’re like family.”

This follows the artist’s previous hints at future music releases, where she posted a cryptic announcement under her label LLOUD’s official social media account. She was also revealed to be starring in the upcoming third season of the HBO Series The White Lotus.
