Linkin Park are officially back.

On September 6, the American nu-metal veterans ended years of waiting and speculation by announcing their return with a new lineup as well as new music.

As of today, Linkin Park are officially composed of co-lead vocalist, rapper, and multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, turntables / synthesizers player and creative director Joe Hahn, with the addition of two newcomers to the fray. Namely, they are Emily Armstrong — vocalist of rock band Dead Sara — on co-lead vocals, as well as Colin Brittain – songwriter and producer for the likes of Dashboard Confessional, Illenium, ONE OK ROCK, and more — on drums.

Together, the band just released a brand new song — alongside an accompanying music video — entitled “The Emptiness Machine.” It serves as the first single from their forthcoming eighth studio album From Zero, set to be released on November 15. It can be pre-saved and pre-ordered here. They debuted the track during a performance livestream with a few lucky fans in attendance, unveiling the band’s new lineup as well as announcing the release of From Zero at the same time.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero,” stated Shinoda in a press statement. “This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life.”

“It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans,” he further elaborated, expressing the band’s excitement for the future. “We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”

“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created,” stated Shinoda on the addition of their two new members. “We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”

Alongside the reveal of the new lineup and the announcement of new music on the way, Linkin Park are also set to hold six arena shows later this year as part of the world tour in support of From Zero. These shows will be held in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota. Members of the Linkin Park Underground fan club can avail of a pre-sale that start on September 6 while general on-sale begins on September 7. Find out more information here.

Possible Asia tour dates outside of Seoul, including the Philippines, have yet to be announced. The band was previously in the Philippines in 2013 as part of their world tour in support of their album Living Things.

Formed in 1996, Linkin Park are regarded as one of the forerunners of the nu-metal genre, taking it to higher levels of popularity and influence thanks to their debut album Hybrid Theory, released in 2000. In 2017, the band went on an indefinite hiatus following the passing of their vocalist Chester Bennington. Earlier this year the band released Papercuts — a greatest hits compilation album of many of their singles from 2000-2023 and included a brand-new track entitled “Friendly Fire.” It followed the 20th anniversary edition of their highly-acclaimed sophomore album Meteora.
