Laufey has just released her brand-new single, titled “Silver Lining.”

The Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter welcomes a new era with her latest song, which embraces her signature jazz-pop sensibilities with a 60s-infused twist. “Silver Lining’ is a love song about being able to set your true personality free when you fall in love. Your inner child comes out, and you are emboldened by lust. Even if it takes you to hell, at least you’re with your partner,” says Laufey of the track.

An accompanying music video of the song was also released with the track and shot on 35mm film, with direction by Jason Lester, who handled the same duties for Laufey’s “From the Start”. and creative direction from Junia Lin (Laufey’s twin sister). Check it out in its entirety below:

The upcoming track was announced by the viral jazz-pop musician herself on her official social media platforms, as she posted the track’s official artwork alongside its release date of April 3, 2025, at 3 PM (GMT)/11 PM (PHST). Teasing its forthcoming release, the Icelandic-Chinese musician also released a TikTok video showcasing a fifteen-second snippet of the song as she swayed along to its melody.

Laufey’s “Silver Lining” marks her latest musical release after some time, following her live album A Night At The Symphony: Live at the Hollywood Bowl which dropped alongside the concert film of the same name. It followed the release of her holiday EP, A Very Laufey Holiday, which featured cover renditions of Christmas classics such as “Santa Baby,” “Winter Wonderland,” and more.

Aside from those endeavors, 2024 marked a very busy year for the viral TikTok musician, following a series of instantly sold-out concerts in the Philippines, including her first arena show and special symphony showcase with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra. She also dropped the deluxe edition to her Grammy-winning album Bewitched with Bewitched: The Goddess Edition, adding three new tracks to the record.
