As one of pop’s most renowned icons, Lady Gaga surely knows how to make an entrance — even during a commercial break.

On the eve of the 67th GRAMMYs, the pop superstar used a mid-Grammys ad slot to officially premiere a surprise new single titled “Abracadabra,” which serves as a high-energy dance track from her upcoming album Mayhem.

The track’s arrival had been teased leading up to the awards — though its title remained under wraps until the big reveal. Last week, Gaga announced that Mayhem would drop on March 7, with eagle-eyed fans spotting a hidden “Abracadabra” easter egg in the album’s teaser clip.

A special music video directed by Gaga alongside Parris Goebel and Bethany Vargas was also dropped immediately, which delivers a visually charged dance showdown that has been described as a “dance battle between the light and dark sides of Gaga.” Both Gaga and Goebel co-choreographed the routine, leading a 40-person dance squad through the song’s pulsating beats. The commercial-break premiere wasn’t the night’s only Gaga moment. Earlier in the ceremony, she hit the stage with Bruno Mars for a stirring rendition of The Mamas & The Papas’ “California Dreamin’” — a nod to the resilience of Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires in early January.

Abracadabra is the latest preview of Mayhem, Gaga’s seventh studio album (excluding Harlequin, last year’s jazz-heavy Joker spinoff record). The project has already spawned two singles: “Die With a Smile,” a collaboration with Mars released in August, and “Disease,” which dropped in December.

In an official press statement about the album, Gaga reflected on her journey back to pop, saying, “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved.” She added, “Mayhem represents a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
