Rising shoegaze and dreampop band KRNA are set to release their newest single titled “I’m Wrong” on March 8.
The single is the second track to be released from the Cagayan de Oro-based band’s forthcoming album titled Kireina, which is slated to come out sometime this year. The band shared that the album will be made available on all streaming platforms as well as on a 12″ vinyl. More details will be announced soon. In a press statement, the band shared that “I’m Wrong” touches on the feelings of self-doubt and despair. “Every decision, failure or even success,” vocalist and songwriter KC Salazar mused, “we question if we deserve them.”
When talking about the production process, Salazar shared, “This was the first song where I recorded vocals and guitars at home. We recorded in a professional studio, but decided we loved the feel and sound of the demo vocals, so I re-recorded the whole thing at home.”
KRNA’s previous single “Dream Again” was featured on Billboard Philippines‘ list of the top 25 songs of 2023. In the spiel for the song, Billboard Philippines wrote, “WIth a dreamy opening that envelops you in its first few seconds, KRNA’s “Dream Again” sounds like a track that fits perfectly with the climactic scene of a 90s coming-of-age movie. The Cagayan De Oro-based band use their talents to craft a sentimental ambience within the song’s four minutes that utilizes bittersweet lyricism as a weapon that strikes emotional damage to its listeners. In some ways, the track features familiar sound that is comforting, if not devastating — somewhat as if it was a fleeting dream from our memories.”
