Hitmaker Juan Karlos and Senior High co-star Kyle Echarri have released their new single, titled “kasing-kasing” (Heart) this January 26.

In a Tweet posted on January 21, Juan Karlos wrote, “[R]eleasing a song with my baby boy this month!!! [U]pdate update tayo. ‘kasing-kasing’ by juan karlos & kyle echarri. [E]xcited na kami na marining nyo.”

This was followed up by a TikTok video posted on January 23, Juan Karlos shared, “…January 26 nga pala, this Friday, may song na ilalabas kami ni Kyle [Echarri]” (This Friday, Kyle [Echarri] and I will release a song.”

The title of the song is the Bisaya word for “heart.” Both Echarri and Juan Karlos are from Cebu. Echarri moved to Cebu City from Orange County, California in 2014. He rose to fame when he joined season two of The Voice Kids: Philippines. Since then, he has gone on to star in multiple television shows and films, such as On The Wings Of Love, Kadenang Ginto (Gold Chain), and most recently, Senior High.

On the other hand, Juan Karlos was born and raised in Consolacion, Cebu. He joined the first season of The Voice Kids: Philippines. He is known for multiple chartbreaking hits, such as the 2018 track “Buwan” (Moon) and most recently, “ERE” (Air). In an interview with Billboard Philippines, he shared that he started writing “ERE” before his breakup with model Maureen Wroblewitz in June of 2022.

When talking about his songwriting and creative process, he said, “Honestly, with all my other songs, there really is no process. It’s just a bunch of random moments. One thing is that my guitar’s always with me. For example, for “Buwan,” I wrote that in a car; the verse I wrote in the shower, and the chorus I wrote in the car. I guess that’s the beauty of it, because it’s not a planned thing ever. I don’t work with music in a corporate fashion.”
