Japanese Breakfast are making a big comeback this 2025, announcing their brand new album titled For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women).
Michelle Zauner, the beloved indie singer-songwriter who fronts Japanese Breakfast, shared the news on her official social media platforms, stating its album title and release date of March 21, 2025, together with the release of the record’s first single. Titled “Orlando In Love“, is officially out now on all digital and streaming platforms.
Alongside the single’s release, an accompanying music video directed by Michelle Zauner herself was also dropped –– which stars drag queen Jungle as Venus, performing an interpretive dance on the sidelines while Zauner croons to the track on the sidelines. Check out the full music video below:
For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women) marks the fourth studio album from Japanese Breakfast, following 2021’s Jubilee –– which went on to receive universal acclaim from both critics and commercial audiences as the band’s first album to debut on the Billboard 200 chart (peaking at No. 56). In the same year of its release, Zauner also released her memoir, Crying in H Mart, which received rave reviews from various publications and was selected as one of The New York Times, The Atlantic, and Time Magazine‘s best books of the year. Also recently, Zauner released her own pop rendition of “Ballad Of The Witches Road” for the soundtrack to Marvel’s Agatha All Along television series.
Later this year, Japanese Breakfast is scheduled to go on tour in support of the upcoming record –– beginning with performances on both weekends of the 2025 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, followed by shows across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the rest of Europe, with a number of other music festival stops along the way.
