Japanese indie-alternative rock band Hitsujibungaku are heading back to Asia this July.

On April 21, the Tokyo-based trio announced that they would be adding new dates to their previously concluded Asia Tour just last March. It previously saw sold-out dates in Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Taipei, and Bangkok.

This time, the band’s Filipino fans are in for a treat as the tour will include a stop in Manila alongside dates in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong. This will be the band’s first ever show in Manila.

Through a collaboration post on Instagram, local concert organizers The Rest Is Noise PH and Gabi Na Naman Productions teased that they are set to be ones organizing the Manila stop. The two entities previously worked together to bring Taiwanese math rock icons Elephant Gym.

Details, such as ticketing, venue, and possible support acts, have yet to be announced. Watch this space for updates.

Hitsujibungaku was formed in 2011 and is composed of vocalist and guitarist Moeka Shiotsuka, bassist Yurika Kasai, and drummer Hiroa Fukuda. They are known for their tracks such as “tears”, “1999”, and more. Their fourth album, 12 hugs (like butterflies), was just released last December 2023. It includes the track “more than words”, one of the ending themes for the second season of the hit animé series Jujutsu Kaisen and one of their biggest tracks since their inception.
