Everything but the Girl Announce New Definitive Compilation Album
The sophisti-pop-turned-electronic music duo is known for their 1994 hit single, “Missing.”

Everything but the Girl (EBTG), comprised of English musicians Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, are releasing their definitive compilation ever with The Best of Everything but the Girl, set for release on November 14, 2025.
The 16-track collection spans over 40 years of the sophisti-pop-turned-electronic music duo‘s music — dating back to their 1984 debut album, Eden, and extending to their most recent release, Fuse, in 2023.
In a press release, Thorn shares, “We always liked albums that had a fast side and a slow side, so we thought we’d start with the bangers and wind down with the ballads.”
Watt adds, “It also makes the album run backwards in time. It gives you a sense of clubland back to bedsit, a journey that to us feels very real. And at the end, we pair the modern-day (Run a Red Light) with how we started (Night and Day).”
Formed in 1982, EBTG is known for their 1994 hit track “Missing,” remixed by Todd Terry. The duo gained popularity in the Philippines starting in 1985 with the release of their second studio album, Love Not Money, which featured the hits “When All’s Well” and “Ballad of the Times.”
When the duo’s third album, Baby, the Stars Shine Bright, came around, featuring the hit singles, “Come on Home” and “Don’t Leave Me Behind. However, Wea Records, the album’s Philippine distributor at the time and now Warner Music Philippines, decided to release another track, the jazz-infused ballad “Cross My Heart,” as a single.
It became a hit in the Philippines and was never released as a single in other countries. This success also made their third album the biggest-selling album in the Philippines.
The duo wasn’t aware of the success of “Cross My Heart.” In 2017, Watt expressed his desire to own a 7-inch vinyl copy of the single, which he says is now a “proper collector’s item,” on X. Jamie Lim, a Filipino fan of the duo, offered a copy to Watt.
