Esremborak have returned with their newest single, “Tenchu,” arriving as the five-piece ukulele rock band’s first release of the year.
Released on September 11, 2026, the single playfully references the beloved cartoon character Doraemon in its chorus, asking the robotic cat for one of his futuristic gadgets from his four-dimensional pocket — specifically, one that could erase the memories and pain left behind by a relationship that ended badly. At its core, “Tenchu” captures the frustration of realizing that someone you once believed was “the one” has instead become a source of heartbreak.
The song reflects on the aftermath of the relationship, with the band wishing they could undo ever meeting the person in the first place with the lyrics: “Bakit pa nakilala pa kita / Nalimot na tuloy pakiramdam ng pag-iisa / Sa lahat ng sakit na naidulot / At sa pusong binabalot ng lungkot.”
“Tenchu” arrives shortly after a major milestone for Esremborak, who made their debut on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 with “Mahal Magmahal.” Originally released in January 2025, the track entered the chart dated August 29, 2026 and currently sits at No. 47, having spent three weeks on the list.
Esremborak is currently composed of vocalist Mc Mislan, bassist Michael Tamayo, ukulele players Nathaniel Panganiban and Jun Rivera, and drummer Steven “Peds” Pedro. The group distinguished themselves through their ukulele-driven rock sound and has built a reputation for songs that blend humor and sincerity. They released their debut EP Basura Songs in April 2019, followed by the single “Chrisremborak” in December of the same year.
