Indie rock band Dilaw commemorated the release of their latest single “Orasa” (Hourglass) with an exclusive performance at Teatrino Promenade last October 3.
The show, titled Di Ilaw Sa Gabing Mapanglaw (There Are No Stars In The Night Sky), featured the band together with a string quartet. Members of the media and the music industry were in attendance. “Orasa” was released last September 1, and tackles the pitfalls and frustrations of love.
In a press release, vocalist and songwriter Dilaw Obero shared that the song is about relationships that are on the brink of breaking up. Rhythm guitarist and composer Vie Dela Rosa adds that the song is reminiscent of a toxic relationship, “Yung kahit ganun, gusto mo pa rin na andun ka” (Even if the relationship is [toxic], you still want to stay).
The track serves as a follow up to their chart-topping breakout hit “Uhaw” (Thirsty). “Uhaw” peaked at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts for the Philippines, and has stayed on the charts for over 25 weeks and counting.
Dilaw is composed of Dilaw Obero on vocals, Vie Dela Rosa on rhythm guitar, Wayne Dela Rosa on bass, Leon Altomonte on lead guitar, En Altonmonte on keyboard, and Tobi Samson on drums.
