R&B singer-songwriter Denise Julia is gearing up to release a new single named “bet” this Friday, April 5.
She revealed the track’s release date last March 22, saying that this song signals a “new era” for her. Denise Julia also alluded to the release of part two of her debut album, which will be titled Sweet Nothings (Chapter 2). On March 24, she revealed a snippet of the song together with the official choreography.
During the first Billboard Philippines Women in Music Awards last March 22, the singer shared to Billboard Philippines that listeners can expect a more “sultry” side to her with her upcoming releases, and that she’s excited for fans to hear this new era of her music. No further details on Sweet Nothings Chapter 2 have been released so far. Watch this space for more updates.
The first edition of her Sweet Nothings album was released in November of last year. Multiple songs off the record have gone viral on TikTok, with “B.A.D.” featuring P-Lo entering the Top 10 of the Billboard Philippines Songs Charts in December. The song was also nominated for the Billboard Philippines Women in Music Listeners’ Choice award, where she bowed out to Belle Mariano’s “Bugambilya.” Most recently, she released her first collaboration with DENȲ, “don’t matter,” last February.
She also released the music video for “Sugar n’ Spice” on February 3. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), she wrote, “I’ve always believed that a woman’s love is one of the most powerful things in this world. While I’ve been open about my sexuality throughout my career, I’ve recently realized that my feelings extend beyond someone’s gender or preferences.”
“In my debut mini album, Sweet Nothings (Chapter 1), there’s a song called ‘Sugar N’ Spice’ that personally stands out in terms of the way it was made. It’s a light, positive, and love-filled track, and interestingly, it’s the only one in the album celebrating a woman’s love. This song reflects my belief that love is love, and everyone should be free to love whomever they choose. This message isn’t just for the queer community; it’s for everyone who believes in love, no matter its form.”
