December Avenue have teamed up with Morissette for a brand-new single, entitled “Ahon.”
Released on May 9, 2025 (Friday), the pop rock band first announced the release of the track on April 24, 2025. Following this, the band teased the song to be a collaboration single, later revealing on May 1 that they have joined forces with Asia’s Phoenix Morissette to record it.
“[‘Ahon’] symbolizes your resilience from overcoming ‘yung past mong experiences (your past experiences). It’s like giving yourself a new hope to rise up again,” states December Avenue vocalist Zel Bautista in a video discussing the song’s meaning.
The release of “Ahon” follows the announcement that December Avenue bassist and founding member Don Gregorio would be amicably departing from the band to focus on his family.
Meanwhile, “Ahon” serves as December Avenue’s first release of 2025 and is the follow-up to their previous single “Paraya,” which came out on August 31, 2024. For Morissette, the new single follows the release of “Hanapin Ang Sarili” and “Umawit Ka” with veteran singer-actress Rachel Alejandro — songs from the Manila International Film Festival award-winning musical film Song of the Fireflies, in which she stars alongside Alejandro. The two tracks were released last March 7 and April 11, 2025 respectively.
