Third time’s the charm for Clairo once more, as the beloved indie sensation has just dropped her third music video for her Charm era.
Her newly released music video is for “Terrapin” — the mellow, soft-jazz single which was largely considered by many as a sleeper hit on the critically acclaimed record.
Directed by famed actress Ayo Edibiri and co-starring music legend “Weird Al” Yankovic, the music video chronicles the track “Terrapin,” which perfectly pairs the mellow, soft-jazz elements of the track with dreamy visuals reminiscent of stage musicals like Gene Kelly’s Singing In The Rain or Rob Marshall’s Chicago.
In the four-minute music video, Yankovic steps out of a teal-green house dressed in a tuxedo, dramatically lip-syncing to the first verse. Two women in green sequined dresses dance behind him during the chorus. Yankovic then plays the piano for the second verse, accompanied by a full band, with Clairo herself grooving to the melody in the background. A lively dance sequence unfolds with the sequined dancers, and the video wraps up just as it began — outside the teal house. Check it out below here:
“Terrapin” is the latest single from Clairo’s Charm, which spawned the hit tracks “Juna” and “Sexy To Someone.” Both songs had their own music videos attached to them months after their release, marking the indie singer-songwriter’s first music videos in over five years.
Charm also marked the first fully independent record from the 26-year-old singer, following her departure from FADER Label and Republic Records after the release of her 2021 sophomore album, Sling. The critically acclaimed album earned Clairo’s first-ever Grammy nomination at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for the Best Alternative Music Album category, where she lost to St. Vincent for All Born Screaming. Charm also debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming her first Top 10 album in her career.
