Charlie Puth is about to become a dad! The Grammy-nominated artist hints at fatherhood in his highly anticipated return to music with his latest single, “Changes,” also announcing his fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever! — set for release on March 6, 2026.
The 80s-inspired track is accompanied by a music video that highlights the personal news, which features Puth’s wife, Brooke Sansone, making a cameo, who places her hand on her stomach. Puth then places his hand on top of hers as they both smile, hinting at the future family of three.
“Changes,” which features elements of jazz and a Phil Collins sound, focuses on Puth experiencing major changes in his life. “There’s been some changes in our life, oh / I can feel the distance, space and time / Has made everything different (Different), day and night (Oh) / Everything has changed and I don’t know why,” Puth sings in the chorus.
The release of the track was first teased about a week ago, with Puth sharing the news on Instagram, saying, “This is the song I wanted you to hear first because it’s a perfect way to bring all of you into the most beautiful, colorful part of my life, which happens to be right now.”
Puth and Sansone tied the knot on September 7, 2024, at the “Light Switch” singer’s family home in Montecito, California. The private ceremony was described by Puth as the happiest day of his life. After the ceremony, the singer posted a video of himself reading his vows, saying, “Today I stand before you, Brooke, and I can’t help but think today is literally the happiest I’ve ever been in my 32 years of life.”
“I love you, Brooke… I always have. I am my very best self with you, and I promise I will love you every day in this life and even more in the next,” he adds.
Whatever’s Clever! follows 2022’s Charlie. As of this writing, the tracklist for the 12-track album hasn’t been fully revealed. In 2024, he was featured on the Stray Kids track, “Lose My Breath.” It was followed by “Hero” and the holiday single, “December 25th.” It’s unclear whether these tracks will appear on the upcoming album.
