Brillantes’ musical alter ego was unveiled following a massive publicity stunt that made it seem as if her personal Instagram was hacked.

Andrea Brillantes makes her foray into the world of music once again, debuting a new musical alter ego named RAMONA.
As RAMONA, the beloved actress-celebrity has released her first single, “GAGA” — a pop-rock anthem that takes a sharp left turn from her carefully curated image as Andrea Brillantes. Penned by herself with production by Timothy Run and Sam Marquez, it’s as if RAMONA channels the early 2000s with the angsty elements of Avril Lavigne and emotional candor of Olivia Rodrigo, showcasing her range as an artist who isn’t afraid to try new things every once in a while.
To promote the single’s release, Brillantes enacted a publicity stunt that made it seem as if her official Instagram page was hacked, which drew the curiosity of netizens nationwide who assumed her privacy was compromised. Brillantes then deleted all of her posts, with the only remaining one being a collaboration post with a new account, @sabingakongasiramona, made for her musical alter-ego.
RAMONA’s “GAGA” was released under Sony Music Philippines, marking a significant departure from Brillantes’ music from the past which was released under ABS-CBN music. Her last single as Andrea Brillantes was 2022’s “Sa Isang Pangarap” for the soundtrack of the series Lyric and Beat, and was preceded by 2021’s “Make Me Feel Beautiful” and 2020’s “Never Give Up.”
