American hardcore punk band Converge are finally making their way to the Philippines.
Announced by DYS Booking Agency and co-presented by 33 & West, the band’s first-ever Manila show will be part of Converge’s 2024 Southeast Asia tour. The show will be held this May 10.
On February 29, it was announced that the show will take place at Eastside Events Place in Marikina City. Tickets are available starting at PHP 1,800 for the Online price via here. Early Bird tickets were previously available for PHP 1,500 for the first 75 buyers but have since become sold out. The rest of the lineup is to be announced.
The rest of the tour will also include prior stops in Jakarta, Bangkok, and Singapore before concluding in Manila.
The Manila show is co-presented by Sleeping Boy Collective and Still Ill Records. The two entities often collaborate in bringing noteworthy names in the international alternative and heavy music scenes to the Philippines. This includes other hardcore punk bands such as Citizen, Jesus Piece, and Comeback Kid.
Converge was formed in 1990 and are widely known for their heavy, time signature-jumping instrumentals coupled with tortured-sounding vocals courtesy of frontman Jacob Bannon. The hardcore punk band is known for tracks such as “Concubine”, “All We Love We Leave Behind”, and “Blood Moon”. Their latest and tenth studio album Bloodmoon: I was released last November 19, 2021 and is a collaboration album with American singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe. The band previously worked together with Wolfe in 2016 for 4 collaborative performances in Europe entitled “Blood Moon”. These performances saw special ambient and post-rock re-imaginations of select Converge tracks.
