After years in hiatus, Abra is making a long-awaited comeback with a brand new song this 2025.
Taking to social media to make the announcement, the Filipino rapper shared a black-and-white image with text that states “Kontrol” together with a cryptic caption that has the date of January 25, 2025. Also notable are the two emojis that tease the track’s release on streaming and digital platforms, as well as an upcoming music video, with both hinted to be associated with DJ Medmessiah of Morobeats, who was also tagged on the post.
The upcoming release is set to mark Abra’s first musical release since 2018, following the viral extended-play Hendrix. In 2017, he also participated in Coke Studio Philippines’ collaboration campaign with Gracenote, wherein they released a Christmas cover of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and “Stargazer.”
Just recently, Abra was on tour across the United States for the ARAL 2024 US Tour, which visited the cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, among others. Also joining him on tour were fellow rappers Ron Honley, Apekz, and Loonie.
The beloved rap figure first became a well-known battle emcee in the FlipTop Battle League and eventually garnered mainstream prominence with his hit single “Gayuma,” which has accumulated more than 87 million views on YouTube as of today.
