Today (June 11, 2025), soul singer-songwriter Jason Dhakal has released his latest single entitled “Magic,” a subdued R&B piece with beats reminiscent of bossa nova. In a caption written by Dhakal on an Instagram post announcing the song, the artist says, “[I] wrote this abt (sic) a guy na walang kwenta (who wasn’t worth my time).”
This marks Jason Dhakal’s first musical drop of the year, following the release of his cover of MYMP’s 2005 hit, “Kailan.” In an interview previously conducted by Billboard Philippines about the piece, he detailed his cover work, “I’m from Oman in the Middle East, so it’s just a song that I grew up listening to. All of these songs, really. When I started making ‘Kailan,’ it was actually at the same time I was making ‘Awitin Mo (Isasayaw Ko),’ so it was all in one studio session.”
In the same interview, Dhakal revealed his plans for future music, sharing, “… Most of the time, I want to get into more of an easy listening-type of songs, where it’s not too loud. I just love, right now, just like serenity, nothing too complicated and just, really simple. That’s where I’m trying to be at, right now.”
