In a P-pop landscape increasingly crowded with high-concept debuts and algorithm-chasing singles, VVINK arrive with something refreshingly earnest: heart.
Formed under FlipMusic — the production house behind some of the country’s biggest contemporary pop hits — the five-member girl group composed of Angelika, Ayaka, Jean, Mariel, and Odri officially stepped into the scene in 2025 with “Tulala,” a buoyant, first-love anthem that wears its kilig on its sleeve. Before their formal debut, the quintet introduced themselves through VVINK: The Pre-Debut Album, a 10-track collection that spotlighted each member’s individual strengths, from R&B and rap to dance-pop and balladry. It was an unusually confident rollout for a rookie act: less “getting to know you,” more “here’s who we are.”
Pronounced “wink,” the group’s name comes from the stylized double V — a nod to “second chances” and “double victory,” themes that quietly run through the group’s trajectory. Some members entered VVINK with years of industry experience already behind them: Angelika previously worked as a songwriter for FlipMusic and notably co-wrote BINI’s “Pantropiko,” while Mariel competed in Season 3 of The Voice Kids Philippines. Ayaka returned to music after spending years in Japan, and Odri built her background as a professional dancer. Since “Tulala,” VVINK have steadily sharpened their identity through tracks like the dreamy “Tatlong Hiling,” the playful “Baduy,” and the tender slow-burn confession “Kailan Ka Aamin.” What emerges across their growing catalog is a group unafraid of sincerity — embracing youthful chaos, soft-hearted yearning, and the kind of unabashed pop maximalism that P-pop continues to thrive on.
It is because of these that VVINK rightfully belong in our P-pop Class of 2026, and in this exclusive interview, the members talk about their growth as a group and as artists under FlipMusic, their just-released debut album It Starts With A Wink, and how they’re inspired by the fact that one of their members co-wrote BINI’s breakout hit.
“Having her in our group, sobrang nakaka-proud talaga (it truly makes us proud),” says Ayaka. “And we really see it as a motivation to keep creating music that genuinely connects with people.
