LE SSERAFIM have built a reputation on fearlessness –– one that manifests in their sound, their performances, and their identity as artists.

Over the past year, the fearless K-pop quintet (comprised of members KIM CHAEWON, SAKURA, HUH YUNJIN, KAZUHA, and HONG EUNCHAE) has had quite a whirlwind year this 2025, following the release of their chart-breaking EP, HOT, their Japanese single “Different”, and the recent conclusion of their sold-out set of shows for their EASY CRAZY HOT World Tour. Yet despite achieving such impressive milestones in their career in such a short amount of time (almost as if they were speeding through a tasting menu), the group isn’t slowing down; rather, they’re turning up the heat even further –– as they’ve gone back into the kitchen to concoct their first-ever single album, (aptly) titled SPAGHETTI.

LE SSERAFIM’s SPAGHETTI marks a new era for the group –– reintroducing each one of them not merely as world-class performers, but as pop provocateurs who can make even the messiest of ingredients sound magnificent. As they stir the pot with each of the two tracks on this record, it’s clear that each beat slinks and swirls, while every lyric drips with personality. And before you know it, you’re caught in the strands of this project, twisting, tangled, and hungry for more (which is exactly what LE SSERAFIM had intended this time around.)

Beyond turning their audacity into flavor, this record is a feast of wit and confidence –– and at the center of this simmering creation is the title track, “SPAGHETTI” featuring j-hope of BTS, which perfectly merges the group’s wicked sense of humor and self-awareness with irresistible hooks that beg you to “EAT IT UP.” Then there’s also “Pearlies (My oyster is the world),” the soft light to “SPAGHETTI’s” neon glow. Written as a love letter to their fanbase of FEARNOT, it’s a track that peels back the glitter to reveal gratitude and growth beneath the group’s fearless exterior.

While their signature fearless nature rings true on both tracks of the record, LE SSERAFIM sat down to answer some questions from Billboard Philippines in this exclusive interview –– opening up about the process of what it was like bringing the saucy nature of SPAGHETTI to life, and their reflections following their EASY CRAZY HOT World Tour.

Billboard Philippines: What was the inspiration behind the title “SPAGHETTI”? Is there any sort of deeper story or message behind such a unique and impressionable concept for this comeback?

KIM CHAEWON: As the lyric “Stuck between your teeth, that’s SPAGHETTI” suggests, I’d say this song is meant to be just as catchy and impossible to get out of your head—something that lingers no matter how hard you try to shake it off.

Even from the visual concept of “SPAGHETTI” alone, it already feels playful and fresh. How do you think it ties into the LE SSERAFIM identity?

HONG EUNCHAE: [For me,] “SPAGHETTI” channels LE SSERAFIM’s charm in a way that’s impossible to escape, just like the taste of spaghetti that keeps lingering in your mind. I think it’s confident and playful energy perfectly reflects who we are as a group.

What was it like working on bringing “SPAGHETTI” to life in the studio, considering that it marks the first single album in your discography?

KAZUHA: Just like the title “SPAGHETTI,” this album had many fun and unique elements, so it took a lot of thought and practice to express them well. There were challenges, but we found creative ways to make it our own, and I think each of us added something witty and clever in our own way.

Were there any new sounds, genres, or production styles that you experimented with on this project? If so, what felt the most exciting for each of you?

KIM CHAEWON: For me, the most exciting part was the performance. I enjoyed spending a lot of time exploring new forms of expressing myself on stage [as we prepared for this comeback].

SAKURA: “SPAGHETTI” expresses LE SSERAFIM’s charm that you just can’t get away from, like spaghetti that’s stuck in your teeth. The part where we sing “EAT IT UP” over and over is the highlight, and since each of us members delivers it in our own styles, it adds even more playfulness to the song.

HUH YUNJIN: [Also], our B-Side track “Pearlies (My oyster is the world)” is a play on the saying “The world is my oyster,” which we also used in the track “The World Is My Oyster” from our debut album.

The original saying carries an attitude of taking ownership, of conquering something that isn’t mine and making it my own –– which felt very fearless and confident, and was a message we wanted to deliver back then. But by flipping the words, we also flip the meaning: within the small oyster I already have, there’s everything I need. For us, that’s FEARNOT. They are our oysters, and therefore our world.

KAZUHA: When I first heard “SPAGHETTI,” what stood out the most was how bold the vocals were, as they were a bit sassy but [still] cool. Since it was a new style for us, I spent a lot of time figuring out how to express that attitude in a natural way.

HONG EUNCHAE: The choreography is especially catchy and expressive for this comeback. It captures many new sides of us that we haven’t shown before, so I think it’ll be even more exciting to watch.

What were each of your favorite moments in recording the song, and filming the music video & concept films for “SPAGHETTI”?

KIM CHAEWON: There’s a scene in the music video where I get splattered with tomato sauce, and I could still smell it on me even after going home. It’s one of those moments that really stuck with me!

SAKURA: Shooting the concept photos was my favorite part. We played with the “cook, serve, eat” idea to express spaghetti in different ways. It was also my first time styling a bob since debuting as LE SSERAFIM, so it felt like showing a whole new side of myself.

HUH YUNJIN: I loved dancing with everyone on the last day of shooting the music video! All the actors and drag queens joined us, and we ended up having a dance party on set. It was so much fun.

KAZUHA: I’d say it was shooting the music video. This time, we worked with many drag queens and actors who brought so much energy to the set, even during the long filming hours. Thanks to them, we were able to create something truly special. And watching everyone give it their all was so inspiring.

HONG EUNCHAE: There’s a scene where I swim in a pool of tomato sauce, and as someone who’s not the biggest fan of tomatoes, it was definitely a challenge — but also a memorable one!

So HUH YUNJIN, with “SPAGHETTI” being yet another LE SSERAFIM song that you’ve co-written, what differed in your songwriting approach this time around –– especially in tying it to such a unique concept?

HUH YUNJIN: For this song, I came up with the concept from the very beginning, so leading an album with an idea was a first for me. It was really exciting and such an honor! I had this idea for a message we could explore: how food stuck in your teeth becomes similar to how our name gets stuck in your head. Like, are you sure you don’t like the taste?

Sometimes, when you eat something you think you dislike a few times, you start to wonder whether you actually dislike it or if you’re starting to like it. I wanted to express that interesting, obsessive, addictive moment between love and hate. So I wrote an entire document about my vision for the album and shared it with the label, and that became the reference for SPAGHETTI!

Coming off your groundbreaking EASY CRAZY HOT World Tour, how did such a momentous experience shape each of your approaches for this comeback?

KIM CHAEWON: Touring made me realize once again just how special FEARNOT are, and how much they mean to us. It was also a meaningful experience that reminded me how much we’ve grown together as a team.

SAKURA: Throughout our first world tour, we received so much love and courage. Feeling how many people truly care and support us gave me so much strength, and it made me want to do even better for this comeback.

HUH YUNJIN: We received so much love from our fans all around the world, and that gave us a stronger sense of responsibility and ownership over each performance. It definitely motivated us to work harder and show our best side for this album.

KAZUHA: Meeting FEARNOT around the world gave us so much energy. During the North American leg of our tour, we even filmed some content for “SPAGHETTI,” and being able to do that while feeling the fans’ love and excitement in person was so inspiring. I believe that energy naturally shines through in this album.

HONG EUNCHAE: While touring, I could truly feel just how many people were rooting for us. That experience gave me more confidence and made me want to prepare for this comeback with even greater determination.

Was there a particular tour performance or city that left a lasting impression on each of you?

HUH YUNJIN: Every city was really special, but for me personally, our first U.S. show in Newark was especially memorable. A lot of my childhood friends, family friends, and family came to see the show. It was truly a full-circle moment for me!

Were there any new sides of yourselves that you discovered during your recent EASY CRAZY HOT World Tour and this comeback preparation? And if so, what were they?

SAKURA: Cutting my hair short made me realize that my cool side really comes through more naturally, and that it’s one of my strengths. Since “SPAGHETTI” highlights each member’s expressions, I focused on bringing out that cool, confident side of me.

With those learnings, how do you think your group dynamic changed or deepened since touring together so extensively?

SAKURA: Touring together made us feel more like a true team. Sharing the stage and building each performance together has made trusting and relying on one another feel completely natural.

With just how infectious the songs on this project are, how does this single album reflect your musical evolution since your debut as LE SSERAFIM in the music scene two years ago?

KIM CHAEWON: With this album, we put a lot of effort into presenting a new side of LE SSERAFIM as we always do. I think that our ability to take on such diverse concepts shows how much we’ve grown, and this process itself has been a key part of shaping and solidifying our unique color as a group.

What do you hope FEARNOT will feel when they hear “SPAGHETTI” for the first time –– and how do you hope this record will be remembered in your growing discography?

KAZUHA: I hope FEARNOT will remember this album as something refreshing and fun. Because for me, everything about SPAGHETTI — from the sound to the concept — has a playful twist, so I’d love for FEARNOT to enjoy it freely, the same way that we did while making it.

Following all that you’ve accomplished with “SPAGHETTI”, what set of sounds do you hope to explore next for your set of projects in the near future?

HUH YUNJIN: I think that LE SSERAFIM is a team that loves trying new things and challenging our sonic spectrum. We’re always open to discovering and exploring all kinds of genres! So the one thing I can promise is that whatever we do will stay true to who we are, and we’ll give it our all.

With the tour now wrapped and this new single album out, what’s one message you’d like to send to fans who’ve supported you throughout such a busy and eventful year for LE SSERAFIM this 2025?

SAKURA: Thank you so much for always believing in us and waiting for us. I hope we can enjoy this comeback together to the fullest, and we’ll do our best to deliver performances that go beyond FEARNOT’s expectations!

Lastly, which member of LE SSERAFIM would be the best and the worst chef in the kitchen, and why?

HONG EUNCHAE: Hmmm. I think that SAKURA would be the best—she’s always calm and composed, no matter the situation. But during the cooking scenes for the music video, CHAEWON looked the most awkward, so I’d probably say she’d be the worst! *laughs*
