Music is a universal language — and that’s perfectly exemplified in BINI and Belinda’s recent collaboration, “Blink Twice – Dos Veces Remix.” The joint single was released last March 14, and has been making waves as a Latin pop and P-pop mashup. Featuring a special verse in Spanish as Belinda’s contribution to the song, the remix is a bright and vibrant fusion of culture that’s bursting with confidence.
Just in time for Women’s Month, this new collaboration is another testament to female solidarity throughout the globe. Part of their freshly released BINIverse EP, the Nation’s Girl Group’s “Blink Twice” stands as a bubblegum pop track that exudes confidence, and Belinda’s new verse on the track is just as cheeky.
In exclusive interviews with Billboard Philippines, BINI and Belinda shared their experience working together on the remix, in addition to their ongoing chemistry and shared love as collaborators.
Belinda, who has long been a dominant figure in Latin music behind pop staples like “Amor a Primera Vista” and “300 Noches,” was equally excited about the project. “When I first heard the song, I was obsessed with it,” she shared. “I loved the message, the rhythm — it was so fun! I immediately thought, ‘I have to be part of this.’”
Despite not working with BINI in person, she made sure to immerse herself in the collaboration. “I wanted to give the song my own Latin twist while still respecting the original version,” Belinda explained. “It was important to me that both our styles blended naturally.”
Even through a mainly digital collaboration, BINI felt the Latin hitmaker’s passion throughout the process. “She actually sent a whole Latin version of ‘Blink Twice’ — a full song,” the group’s main rapper, Mikha, revealed. “She made sure we liked everything before our producers selected which parts to include.” For BINI, Belinda’s commitment to the project reflected the same drive they bring to their own music. “She’s a very hard worker, and we really look up to her.”
Likewise, Belinda expressed that she had a growing admiration towards the girls, “I love BINI. I really do,” She continues, “They have great, great music, great songs, and they are very different.” She shared her appreciation towards the members’ different personalities and colors, as she emphasized this made for a larger and more vibrant mixture of sound. On a similar note, the international artist showed her affection for the BLOOMs who praised the song: “For all the fans who love BINI, I’m very grateful with all of them because they’ve made this song so special.”
In a similar sentiment, both Belinda and BINI actively hope for a joint live performance of the “Blink Twice – Dos Veces Remix” in the near future. The former expressed admiration towards the P-pop girl group’s routines: “I love how they dance, and how they’re so perfect with their dance.” She adds, “I know that they’re going to tour in in America, so I would love to go on tour with them and sing this song if they invite me.” Likewise, Mikha mentioned that the group would love to share the stage with the Latin pop star, “I hope everyone will welcome her here and we hope the same goes for us when we go to Latin America.”
BINI are no stranger to international collaborations. Having previously worked with acts like Indonesian powerhouse Agnez Mo and K-pop sensation, Eaj, they emphasize that teaming up with a Latin pop powerhouse like Belinda was an entirely new experience. The group’s main vocalist, Maloi, explained, “This is our first time collaborating with a big Latin artist. Knowing her influence in Latin America, we can’t wait to tap into that market and hopefully share the stage with her soon.”
With their sights set on global domination, BINI remain ambitious in scoring more international collaborations. Detailing a dream list that includes names like Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, BLACKPINK, and even hip-hop icons like Kendrick Lamar and SZA, the group has many exciting collaborations ahead of them. And staying true to their core as advocates for the growth of OPM, at the top of their local collab wishlist lies Billboard Philippines’ 2024 Woman of the Year, Sarah Geronimo.
Echoing this sentiment of nationality, “Blink Twice (Dos Veces Remix)” is more than just a remix — it’s a statement. It’s BINI’s way of showing that Filipino pop is limitless, capable of transcending borders and fusing seamlessly with global sounds.
