SUGA has issued another apology over his drunk driving incident.

On Sunday (August 25, 2024), the BTS member took to the fan community platform Weverse to share a handwritten letter of apology to ARMY (BTS fans) for his recent drunk driving issue. In his letter, as translated by Soompi, SUGA writes, “I apologize very deeply for having disappointed and hurt my fans and everyone who loves me through my wrongdoings.”

“I forgot my responsibility to repay the love I’ve received up until now by behaving in a manner fitting of that love, and I made a grave mistake,” he continues. “Everything is my fault. Due to my carelessness, everyone who cares about me is going through a difficult time. I will live my life reflecting and making efforts not to commit such wrongdoings again.”

SUGA adds that he is apologetic over leaving “a large blemish on the precious memories that I made together with my [fellow BTS] members and our fans,” adding that he feels “painfully sorry” for the damage the incident has caused his bandmates.

This comes as SUGA’s second apology, following a statement he posted the day after the incident, which happened on August 6. He also addressed this in his latest letter, sharing his regrets over his “hastily posted” apology that day. “I should have thought more deeply and been careful, but I couldn’t,” he writes.

The “Daechwita” rapper had his license suspended after he was reported to have operated an seated electric scooter with a blood alcohol content above the 0.08 level. SUGA was prompted to take a breathalyzer test after falling over during his short-distance drive to his apartment. BTS’ label BIGHIT Music also released an initial statement then noting that the rapper was wearing a helmet and had only traveled about 500 meters before falling down while parking the scooter. Investigations are currently ongoing.
