That’s the idea behind the newest segment of Billboard Philippines‘ Off The Charts, which is introducing a new monthly countdown that digs deeper into the genres shaping the local music scene.
This June, Off The Charts is further amplifying the country’s top songs with a brand-new monthly segment that dives deeper into the soundscape of the Philippines’ vibrant music scene. For the first time, the podcast will be spotlighting genre-specific top 10 countdowns, offering a closer, curated look at what’s making waves within the industry. Every month, the podcast — hosted by Billboard Philippines‘ Managing Editor Jason Caballa and Producer Anton Molina — will zone in on the top 10 songs of a specific genre on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100, revealing the biggest tracks making noise all across the country.
To kick things off, the podcast is starting with two genres that have defined and redefined the Filipino sound in recent years: P-pop and Rock.
It’s hard to overstate how explosive P-pop has become. In just a few short years, homegrown acts like SB19 and BINI have transformed from rising stars to icons, igniting fandoms and fueling a full-on movement. Meanwhile, rock is proving it still has plenty of fire, with both legacy bands and younger indie acts breathing life into the scene — proving that Filipino rock never dies.
