Today (April 29, 2025), in preparation for their next generation of idols, MNL48 will soon open auditions for the year. The official audition period is set to start this May 5, and details about the initial screening have yet to be announced. Watch this space for updates. Applications will be made available online through their official website.
Applicants who are women aged 18 and above, passionate about singing, dancing, or performing, as well as team-oriented and willing to learn will be eligible for these auditions.
In an official statement on the group’s website, their management shared, “Under the vision of creating ‘a unit that embodies the power of talent and diversity,’ we are excited to welcome passionate individuals from the Philippines and around the world.” They add, “Successful candidates will receive professional training and have the chance to share MNL48’s appeal with fans across the globe. From Manila to New York, Tokyo to Toronto, we want to build a truly borderless idol group, where fans and members alike can be connected no matter where they are.”
MNL48 made their debut in 2018 with the single album, Aitakatta Gustong Makita. Since then, the group has made waves as one of the initial pioneers of P-pop, an OPM act bridging the gaps between their local fanbase and an international audience. The idol group has become iconic for their Filipino renditions of classic AKB48 songs like “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie” and “365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel”
