MNL48 is marching toward a new era with the announcement that the group’s operating company name will officially change to P.O.S Inc., effective January 1, 2026.
Formerly known as MNL48 Inc., the new company name is derived from “Pearl of the Orient Seas,” a phrase that symbolizes the Philippines. This move also reflects the Filipino idol girl group’s continued growth and evolution, as they aim “to continue shining even brighter in the years ahead,” according to their official statement.
In addition to changing its operating company name, MNL48 will also undergo changes to its group name. “Please note that the announcement regarding the group name change is scheduled to be made in January 2026,” the group said in their statement.
The new year follows an eventful 2025 for the group. In March, the group ended its management under HalloHallo Entertainment after six years and established what was then named MNL48 Inc., now based in Japan and operating in cooperation with the Philippine-based LiveBuzz Productions.
In April of that year, the group held its ‘Reboot and Rise‘ live event at SM City North EDSA, featuring both current and graduating members. The event also saw Jamie Alberto replace Jem Caldejon as the group’s new captain.
In October, the group held its ‘Dream Beyond’ concert at the Teatrino Promenade in San Juan, where Dana Brual was named co-captain, and the fifth-generation members were officially revealed. The group also inducted its first non-Filipino members — Sakura Shion and Mirai Wanaka.
Additionally, the group’s popular 2018 track “Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie” has seen a resurgence thanks to TikTok in 2025. The official music video is now set for release in early 2026, with the schedule adjusted due to costume production and the recording process. The group assures fans that the release will feature top-tier production, choreography, visuals, and editing.
