Clairo is no longer an indie artist, having signed with Warner Music Records’ subsidiary, Atlantic Records.
“I’m so thrilled to begin this next chapter of my musical journey with Atlantic,” Clairo mentioned of her signing in an official press statement. “From our first meeting, they immediately understood my vision, and it feels good to know I can continue to be as expressive and free with my ideas with a great new partner by my side,” she continued.
Chairman and chief executive of Atlantic Music Group, Elliot Grainge, also expressed his excitement at the addition of Clairo to their label. “Clairo represents the rare kind of artist who reshapes the music landscape simply by being true to herself. She’s not just one of the most important songwriters of her era, she’s an artist whose work and aesthetic is truly unique. As a leading voice in music today, we are honored that she has chosen the Atlantic family to be part of her next chapter.”

This unexpected move from the beloved folk-pop musician comes just a few months after the release of her third studio album, Charm, which was released independently under her own label, Clairo Records, and was released to critical and commercial acclaim, even debuting on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 8 in its first week. The album spawned the singles “Sexy To Someone,” “Nomad,” and “Juna” — with the latter garnering virality across social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram upon its release.
As an indie artist, Clairo dropped her debut extended-play, Diary 001, and her first studio album, Immunity, under Fader Label, an imprint under Universal Music Group. Her sophomore effort, Sling, was dropped as a co-release under Fader and Republic Records in 2021.
Atlantic Records serves as the home of several internationally acclaimed musicians, such as Bruno Mars, Charli XCX, ROSÉ, Kehlani, Cardi B, Coldplay, Charlie Puth, Ed Sheeran, Lizzo, Skrillex, Wallows, Jason Mraz, Hillary Duff, and Melanie Martinez, among others.
