In the (unfortunately) fictional universe of the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, the Hon-moon is a protective barrier that defends humanity from the soul-sucking demons. Maintaining this barrier for eons on end are a select trio of pop stars who inherit the responsibility of performing in order to create a collective fan experience strong enough to fuel the Hon-moon.
In their universe, Huntrix was able to seal the Hon-moon with two songs — “Golden” and “What It Sounds Like.” With this, we learn key factors in songs that could restore this barrier — its power to inspire and its grandiose production (paired with strong vocalists to back it up). As such, fans flocked to various social media to name several songs that they hypothesized had the power to save the Hon-moon, from IVE’s “I AM” to PSY’s iconic “Gangnam Style.”
This beckons the question — Could our favorite P-pop acts possibly save the Hon-moon if it came to it? In this playlist curated by Billboard Philippines, we pick out P-pop songs that could fend off evil and protect the universe by restoring the Hon-moon.
“Huwag Muna Tayo Umuwi” – BINI
There’s no doubt that if a BINI song would be responsible for saving the lives of millions, “Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi” would be one of them. With its powerful composition courtesy of Nica del Rosario and Jumbo de Belen, the song is perfectly capable of turning the Hon-moon golden. With its romantic and yet intimate lyricism with lines like “Magkahawak kamay naglalakad sa may / Dalampasigan saksi ang alon at buwan / Bumibilis ang tibok ng puso tuwing ika’yn / Tumatawa o tumitingin sa’king mata,” the song is bound to get BLOOMs hearts’ racing enough to power the Hon-moon.
“Walang Hanggan” – ALAMAT
Incorporating traditional Filipino sonic elements into its production, ALAMAT’s “Walang Hanggan” becomes a patriotic anthem with the full capacity to save the Hon-moon. Exploring themes of longing and determination, the song turns into a vow to keep love alive no matter what challenges arise. With its heart-stirring lyrics and grand vocal performances from every member, ALAMAT’s promise of “Walang Hanggan” (No Limits) carries a power strong enough to reinforce the Hon-moon’s barrier. After all, a love this boundless could keep its light glowing for years on end.
“KAYA” – KAIA
On a similar note, KAIA’s “KAYA” is a powerful anthem with lyrics written by the members themselves, and its core themes of courage and resilience could surely resonate with fans strongly enough to restore the Hon-moon. Blending dynamic vocal performances with hard-hitting rap verses, the song’s grandiose production — courtesy of Lee Oh Won and Han Seungtaek — makes it an anthem perfectly capable of fighting away demons, even just the ones we face in everyday life.
“LIHAM” – SB19
As one of SB19‘s more emotionally evocative pieces, “LIHAM” definitely holds the potential to protect the world by restoring the Hon-moon. More than a simple serenade, “LIHAM” is a vow of commitment, and the strong promise it holds in it lyrics could certainly save the Hon-moon on its own. Additionally, the minimalist yet emotionally-packed production lets the members’ vocal prowess truly shine in the piece. It is songs like “LIHAM,” sung with deep sincerity, that remind humanity of its capacity for devotion.
“Andito Lang” – BGYO
Included on their self-titled EP released just this year, BGYO’s “Andito Lang” has a message on friendship and being there for one another so strong that its resonance with ACEs alone could save the Hon-moon. Written based on the real-life experiences of the group themselves by member Mikki Claver, lyrics like “Hindi papayag na ika’y mag‑iisa / Di hahayaan na lumuha’y mata” could surely ward off demons. With its warm melody, the song’s intimate yet confident tone can fortify the barrier with the strength of genuine human connection, keeping darkness at bay.
