Nothing screams childhood nostalgia more than tuning in to the Disney Channel on cable and catching the latest Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) or an episode of a favorite Disney Channel show. Back then, watching a premiere, or even just a new episode felt monumental, long before streaming and on-demand viewing took over.

This era truly gave us the songs and artists that defined our childhood. With Demi Lovato reuniting with the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus announcing big and special plans for the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana in 2026, perhaps now is the perfect time to dive back into the Disney Channel craze of our youth and sing our hearts out to the songs that shaped us.

The 2000s and even the early 2010s truly gave us timeless and now-classic songs. Although we shouldn’t overstay our welcome by revisiting the past because we wouldn’t change a thing, we always look forward to the start of something new. That being said, we’re all in this together in taking a trip down memory lane as Billboard Philippines lists down the songs from Disney Channel movies and series that hit differently.

“This Is Me” – Camp Rock

Kicking off our list is a major winner, not a major loser, Tess. Camp Rock surely was a product of its time, aimed at our younger selves who would eat up any appearance from the Jonas Brothers. But there’s no doubt that “This Is Me,” performed by Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, got us swiveling our “Disney knees” just like Mitchie did in the film. In hindsight, it’s a powerful anthem that we can always turn to for motivation when we feel lost in chasing our dreams and reminding us who we really are.

“We’re All In This Together” – High School Musical

When High School Musical first premiered in 2006, it marked the beginning of a new era for Disney. It well-represented the theater kids and gave high school kids to chase their dreams and find what they plan on pursuing later on. But let’s not kid ourselves, at one point we sang and danced to “We’re All In This Together” — which sort of became this quintessential Disney celebratory dance to the end of the film. Even over two decades later, this track is fitting for when we’re trying to get ahold of everything, and remind ourselves that we can turn to our friends, family, and loved ones.

“Best of Both Worlds” – Hannah Montana

Before Miley Cyrus became the rock star she is today with her constant genre explorations, we’ll always remember her pop beginnings with Hannah Montana. What we got was truly the best of both worlds from the “Flowers” singer, which planted the seeds for her ability to channel her recognizable raspy singing voice that we’ve grown to love. As soon as this music hits in the intro for the series, we also thought of being able to live a double life and have a popular alter ego. It’s the kind of problem we wish we only worried about today.

“Gotta Find You” – Camp Rock

Joe Jonas takes the mic with “Gotta Find You,” a rock song that solidified itself and is forever etched into the DCOM music hall of fame, if there ever was one. With this track, you could really hear Joe sing with vigor and passion, rocking out to the lyrics, “You’re the voice I hear inside my head / The reason that I’m singing / I need to find you / I gotta find you.” Sometimes, all you need is to just strum your guitar and sing your heart out by the river — something to take the edge off.

“Bet On It” – High School Musical 2

If the first film was a surprise hit, its sequel, High School Musical 2, was an event. It drew over 17 million viewers in its U.S. premiere and is still the most commercially successful DCOM ever. It’s also not a cash grab of a sequel, with it being as memorable as the first film, if not slightly even better. “Bet On It,” a hard-hitting solo performed by Zac Efron’s Troy Bolton, holds up as a bop, while also being humorously remembered because of all the memes. Troy screaming at the top of his lungs and shouting out his frustrations on the grass? We can’t help but feel the same way.

“What Dreams Are Made Of” – The Lizzie McGuire Movie

The Lizzie McGuire Movie is technically not a DCOM as it premiered in theaters in 2003, becoming the first theatrical film based on a Disney Channel series. But we can’t not include an iconic piece of Disney music that has served as an iconic moment. If you’re immersing yourself in 2000s pop, then “What Dreams Are Made Of” is one of those Disney songs that pack a punch because of how much of a bop it is. For those who lived with Lizzie as she braved through her teenage years, listening to this song again now is even sweeter, looking back on how far we’ve come.

“Push It to the Limit” – Jump In!

We all know Corbin Bleu as Troy’s best friend Chad in High School Musical. Disney cooked, however, with Jump In!, a sports film that features Bleu in the starring role as a boxer who finds a new passion in Double Dutch jump rope, where two long jump ropes opposite are jumped by one or more players. Who knew a jump rope film would go this hard? Apparently, it’s with a track like “Push It to the Limit” in the soundtrack. If you’re adding a song for your workout playlist or any sport to get you even more motivated and hyped up, look no further with this one.

“Determinate” – Lemonade Mouth

At the turn of a new decade in the 2010s, Lemonade Mouth proved to be one of the best DCOM offerings with its well-rounded cast, relatable themes, as well as infectious songs in its soundtrack that include “Determinate.” The track starts slow, but it takes its time before it heads into full-blown bop territory. The song is amplified by how we also get to grow with its characters, which is one of the rare occasions where a film about a band highlights every member.

“Breaking Free” – High School Musical

Breaking Free” is the ultimate duet that breaks free from the chains of being a song not only catered to young audiences to sing to, because without a doubt, even without the series on its back, it can still stand as a pop song hit. It definitely was a time singing both parts, whether you’re mimicking either Troy or Gabriella. Nothing is as good as listening to a feel-good track that is as celebrated as this one.

“Cheetah Sisters” – The Cheetah Girls

The Cheetah Girls is all about girlhood and a female vocal group’s journey into finding success and fortune. “The Cheetah Sisters” celebrates the idea of friendship, unity, and found family — being able to come together from different colors and backgrounds. Even with its seemingly “manufactured” production, it’s still an anthem worthy to revisit when you’re feeling the knack for a little bit of self-empowerment.

“Introducing Me” – Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam

Just as we thought the Camp Rock films would just be all about Joe, the second film, The Final Jam, gave us a Nick Jonas moment that feels so giddy and lovely. “Introducing Me” may eerily sound like “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, but it aptly introduces his character to the audience and gives more time to shine. It also banks on its quirky and hyper-specific lyrics that make it cuter and heartwarming to listen to again after all these years.

“We Got the Party” – Hannah Montana

Anywhere we are, anywhere we go / Everybody knows we got the party with us.” Capping our list is a party anthem that we were all living for back then. There’s also an epic duet version with Cyrus sharing the mic with the Jonas Brothers, which was also performed during the Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert. Take us back to simpler times, yes.
