OPM veteran Yeng Constantino and P-Pop girl group BINI will be joining the second season of reality drag competition show Drag Den.
In an announcement by Filipino-American drag superstar Manila Luzon, she described Constantino as one of “the most critically acclaimed and best-selling Filipino pop rock singer-songwriters” and BINI as “one of the most popular P-Pop girl groups in the Philippines.”
Other guests include international drag icon Alaska Thunderf*ck 5000, critically-acclaimed actress Dolly de Leon, pageant queen Megan Young, actress Andrea Brilliantes, e-sports content creator Alodia Gosiengfiao, and television personality Rufa Mae Quinto.
Drag Den was first launched in 2022, where contestants compete for the title of the Filipino Drag Supreme. Manila Luzon is the show’s host, head judge, and executive producer of the series. The main judges on Season 1 were comedian and content creator Sassa Gurl as well as model Nicole Cordoves. On each episode, there are guest judges who are referred to as “guest enforcers.” The second season of Drag Den premieres on Prime Video on January 18.
The first Filipino Drag Supreme is Naia, with Shewarma Maria Cristina coming in as the runner-up. Naia received P1,000,000, the title of Filipino’s First Drag Supreme, and a one-year supply of Téviant Beauty cosmetics.
In a 2021 interview with MEGA Entertainment on the launch of Drag Den, Manila Luzon shared, “So, we’re gonna let them take a peek at what it’s like underground; like, right here in your own backyards. We have some of the most creative people here in the Philippines and they are doing some wonderful things with their drag, and we’re going to be able to showcase that and we’re building it kind of in the format of a pageant because you know how we love pageants down here, right? So, it’s basically a reality TV show and pageant for drag queens. We will be crowning our Filipino Drag Supreme.”
“I’m really excited because we have so many amazing Filipino drag queens and most people here in the Philippines don’t really have any clue that they’re right here doing some of the best drag in the world in their backyards. Drag is still kind of underground here, so I’m excited to bring the Filipino audience and let them see underground and see the scene that’s happening and to fall in love with these queens and to be inspired by their creativity, to be in awe of their beauty and their transformations, and so it’s going to be like a pageant.”
