The trailer for A24’s upcoming romcom Eternity has been released, set to Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ “Different Today,” and offers a glimpse of the studio’s new blend of romantic comedy and fantasy.
Directed by David Freyne, the film follows Elizabeth Olsen as Joan, Miles Teller as Larry, “the man Joan has built her life with,” and Callum Turner as Luke, “Joan’s first love who got away.”
It explores the idea that after death, everyone gets an extra week to choose where to spend eternity, in a place called “the junction.” Joan must decide whether to spend eternity with Luke, who died in a war, or with her longtime partner, Larry.
The line from the song, “I feel different today,” highlights the film’s emotional journey and matches the story’s theme of choosing new beginnings after death.
“Different Today” is the seventh track on the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ fifth studio album Cool It Down, released on September 30, 2022. It was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a three-piece indie rock band from New York City, formed in 2000 and led by singer Karen O. They mix garage rock, new wave, and electronic sounds, and are known for songs like “Maps” and “Heads Will Roll.”
