‘The Transformers: The Movie’ Celebrates 40 Years With New Soundtrack
The ’80s synth-rock soundtrack is re-energized and repackaged with new recordings, including the seminal power ballad “The Touch.”

The Transformers: The Movie marks its 40th anniversary with The Reformatted Edition soundtrack dropping on July 24, 2026.
In collaboration with the record label, Reigning Phoenix Music, the soundtrack will be released on major music streaming platforms and is also available on cassette, CD, apparel, and different colored vinyl LPs. The exclusive vinyls come in Energon Blue (Amazon), Hot Rod Red (Big Bad Toys Store), Decepticon Purple (Target), and Quintesson Green (Reigning).
The soundtrack rolls out with ten re-recorded and re-imagined tracks from the 1986 film, along with the return of Stan Bush, whose voice has defined a generation of Transformers fans with “The Touch” and “Dare” — with Vince DiCola.
Joining them are guest singers paying tribute to the original tracks: Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Mark Osegueda (Death Angel/Kerry King), Francesco Cavalieri (Wind Rose), Brittney Slays (Unleash The Archers), and Torch (Cold Slither). All tracks are rebuilt and re-energized by the band The Knights of Unicron (Gus Rios, Matt Harvey, and Ross Sewage).

The release of the soundtrack is part of the ‘Apology Tour,’ which is a series of theatrical screenings worldwide, distributed by Fathom Entertainment, of the film now remastered in 4K. The title of the tour pokes fun at the cultural impact of *SPOILER ALERT* Optimus Prime’s tragic death at the first half of the film, which scarred a generation of Transformers fans.
