SZA and Vans have teamed up to celebrate individuality and community through a multi-year creative partnership, naming the Grammy Award–winning singer-songwriter as the brand’s first-ever Artistic Director.
In this role, SZA will work closely with Vans to reimagine upcoming campaigns and co-create exclusive product collections that blend her distinctive vision with the brand’s creative, youthful spirit.
Through her genre-defying sound, SZA remains authentic while creating space for bold, powerful expression. Beyond music, she challenges fashion norms and cultural expectations, empowering youth to own their stories. Embodying the essence of “Off the Wall,” she leads with creative intention and self-acceptance, while also inspiring others to do the same.
“I’ve been wearing Knu Skools and other styles for years, they’ve always had an ethos I connect with. As Artistic Director, my mission is to show that joy, community, creativity, and fashion are all still intersectional. That humanity, culture, and connection are still the access points,” SZA shares in an official statement.
Together, SZA and Vans created an original brand anthem and debut campaign, directed and photographed by Sophie Jones, with styling by Alejandra Hernandez, that explores vulnerability through self-reflection, spotlighting one of SZA’s personal favorites: the Knu Skool in Black/White.
Originally introduced in 1997, the Vans Knu Skool reimagined the classic Old Skool silhouette for a new generation. Influenced by skateboarding design, it features a puffed-up tongue, a 3D Sidestripe, and chunky oversized laces.
The Vans Knu Skool in Black/White is now available at all Vans Philippines stores nationwide, or you can order online through Vans’ official Chat Store, Shopee, and Lazada.
