The Honmoon will still be sealed. Netflix has officially announced the sequel to their smash-hit animated film, KPop Demon Hunters.
The follow-up to their most-streamed and most-watched film of all time will see directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans returning to helm the project as part of their new and exclusive multi-year deal with the streaming juggernaut.
As of this writing, no release date has officially been set. The news comes ahead of the film’s predicted wins for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden” at the 98th Academy Awards on March 16, 2026 (PH Time).
In an exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines in July 2025, Kang mentioned the possibility of going a step further in fully showcasing K-pop and fandom culture.
She shared nothing but praise for “King of K-pop” himself, G-Dragon, suggesting that he would make a great cameo in a then-possible sequel or installment: “I think he’s just such an amazing talent. When he came on the scene, he kind of brought a new freshness to just Korean rap style, and that I haven’t really seen before. I feel like he kind of reinvented some things, and there’s not a lot of people who can do that in any industry.”
“There’s so much more to this world we have built, and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning,” Kang says in an official statement as part of Netflix’s announcement.
In fact, as far as film sequels go, it’s definitely going to be bigger. After defining 2025 with six chart-topping hits at the Billboard Philippines Hot 100, even greater domination may be on the horizon with the songs and musical moments featured in the forthcoming installment.
