A24 and David Lowery’s (The Green Knight, A Ghost Story) upcoming film Mother Mary has just announced its impending release in Philippine cinemas this year.

The forthcoming pop thriller, which stars Academy Award winning actress Anne Hathaway in the titular role, is scheduled to release in cinemas nationwide beginning this April 22, 2026, exclusively distributed by CreaZion Studios. The film follows Hathaway’s Mother Mary character on the eve before her comeback concert, wherein she reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer, Sam Anselm (played by the Emmy-winning Michaela Coel), which unearths some long-buried wounds and some macabre moments between the two.

Given that the film is also a musical, Mother Mary features original music written and produced by pop hitmakers such as Jack Antonoff (Bleachers, Taylor Swift, Lorde, St. Vincent), Charli xcx, FKA Twigs, and The 1975’s George Daniel. Twigs also stars in the movie, marking her latest on-screen role since the 2024 reboot of The Crow, while Hunter Schafer (Euphoria, Cuckoo) and supermodel Kaia Gerber (Babylon, American Horror Stories) also star in the upcoming film.

The film’s soundtrack is set to be titled Mother Mary: Greatest Hits (paying homage to a real-life greatest hits compilation record), and features the film’s first single, “Burial“, performed (and co-written!) by Hathaway alongside Antonoff, Charli, and Daniel, who all serve as co-producers on the track. As announced by an official press release, the next single to be released off the soundtrack is FKA Twigs’ “My Mouth Is Lonely For You” is scheduled to be drop later this March.
