GMG Productions has announced that Cameron Mackintosh’s brand new production of Miss Saigon will be shown at Parañaque’s The Theatre at Solaire from March 23 to May 5 next year. Initially set to conclude on April 21, Miss Saigon will extend its run due to insistent public demand.

“The passion of the Manila audience is the driving force behind this, and we’re thrilled to offer more people the chance to experience this classic production,” GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal said in a press release.

Tickets for Miss Saigon’s Manila run are currently available through TicketWorld.

“Without a doubt, it is the best production of ‘Saigon’ I have ever produced, with one of the most brilliant casts that have ever performed the show around the world. I can’t envisage another show of this scale being done in Manila for the foreseeable future,” Mackintosh said in a statement.

Headquartered in Manila, GMG Productions has been involved in bringing international shows to the Philippines like Cats, RSC’s Matilda, Disney’s The Lion King, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, and most recently, Hamilton.

“Filipinos have a deep connection with Miss Saigon because it has been the stage where countless Filipino artists have had their moment to shine,” Candal said. He cited the likes of Lea Salonga, Jon Jon Briones, Joanna Ampil, and Rachelle Ann Go.

It can be recalled that Salonga became the first Asian artist to win a Tony Award for originating the lead role of Kim in the Broadway production of “Miss Saigon.”

Miss Saigon is set during the final days of the American occupation of Vietnam’s Saigon in 1975, detailing the epic love story of an American G.I. and a young Vietnamese woman. The award-winning production is one of Broadway’s longest-running shows with international stagings, as well as record-setting advances and opening day ticket sales.
