Megan Thee Stallion is stepping into the world of anime with a new original series set to debut on Amazon Prime Video.
The announcement was made during a panel at Dream Con, which celebrates the diverse worlds of gaming, anime, film, music, sports, and pop culture. The rapper appeared in cosplay as Bleach character Yoruichi Shihōin. While specific details such as the plot or cast have not yet been revealed, the rapper teased the project by saying, “You ain’t never seen an anime like this ever in your life.”
The series is a collaboration with Carl Jones, best known as the producer of The Boondocks, the popular Adult Swim animated series that ran from 2005 to 2014. Though unconfirmed, the show may follow a fictionalized version of Megan’s life or music career.
A longtime anime fan herself, Megan hasn’t shied away from her love for anime, often incorporating anime influences into her fashion and songs. In 2020, she partnered with streaming platform Crunchyroll to launch an anime-inspired streetwear collection. The capsule featured unisex pieces such as graphic T-shirts, hoodies, and a canvas tote bag, promoting her animated “Savage” music video.
In October 2024, Megan dressed as Trish Una from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure for Halloween. She has also cosplayed as Sailor Moon, and at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, where she was a presenter, she went as Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen.
The anime announcement follows her recent venture into fashion at PARAISO Miami Swim Week, where she launched her 18-piece Hot Girl Summer swimwear collection. The line, featuring colorful bikinis and one-piece swimsuits, is available at Walmart and her official website.
