The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a grand show that celebrates the world of film, television, and musical soundtracks.

Titled ‘Lights, Camera, Encore,’ the orchestral concert is set to feature the soaring melodies to some of the most recognized scores and compositions –– including that of Lin Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, A Star Is Born, Star Wars, La La Land, Les Misérables, Game of Thrones, and select works of Joe Hisaishi from the Studio Ghibli films.

Such tracks will be performed by both the past and present members of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, which boasts of an impressive roster of over 80 musicians performing on their end, alongside musical guests such as Bituin Escalante, Lara, Arman Ferrer, and the 50-person choir of the University of Santos Tomas Singers — all of whom will be led by Maestro Rodel Colmenar, who is the founder and musical director of the MPO.

Lights, Camera, Encore is scheduled to take place this upcoming October 29, 2024, at 7 PM at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Ayala Malls Circuit Makati. It also serves as a fundraiser for the PARCaralan Project, which stands as the project of MPO, and the PARC Foundation, which serves as a creative hub for underprivileged youth and struggling local artists to excel in performing arts. Proceeds for the event will go to the project, while a portion will also be used for the benefit of MPO’s member musicians, many of whom have endured financial and health-related hardships during the pandemic.
