“This is the way.” The teaser trailer for the upcoming Star Wars adventure, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has been released, with Ludwig Göransson (Sinners, Oppenheimer) returning to the franchise to score the film.

The acclaimed composer previously composed the music for the first two seasons of The Mandalorian Disney+ series.

Set after the events of the show’s third season, the film follows the New Republic as it recruits Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his apprentice Grogu to help preserve everything the Rebellion fought for following the fall of the Empire.

Directed and co-written by Jon Favreau, creator of The Mandalorian, alongside longtime Star Wars creative Dave Filoni, the film stars Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, leader of the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers, and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, son of the late crime lord Jabba the Hutt. It will also mark the live-action debut of Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, who was first introduced in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels.

After the third season’s release in 2023, filming was expected to begin that September. However, following the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes, Lucasfilm re-evaluated its plans for a fourth season and chose to prioritize a film instead.

The film marks the franchise’s first cinematic adventure since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker — the final chapter of The Skywalker Saga. With the success of the first season of The Mandalorian in 2019, Lucasfilm and Disney have prioritized new Star Wars stories for television, including the conclusion of The Clone Wars and live-action shows such as Andor, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew.

The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives in cinemas in May 2026.
