Look out, theatre fans!

The beloved French musical, Les Misérables, is making its way back to the Philippines with a special staging for its World Tour Spectacular run. Presented by Cameron Mackintosh, in association with Nick Grace Management and GMG Productions, the musical phenomenon is set to return to The Theatre at Solaire, Parañaque City, from January 20 to February 15, 2026, for a limited run engagement.

With the production celebrating its milestone of forty years in the industry, the forthcoming World Tour Spectacular showcase is set to deliver a breathtaking reimagining of the Tony-, Grammy-, and Olivier Award-winning musical, which will feature extraordinary new sets and lighting designs for its staging, alongside a company and crew of over 110 individuals (including a mix of local and international talent), together with a live orchestra.

“We’re beyond thrilled to bring this monumental show back to Manila. This time in a groundbreaking, never-before-seen format… It’s an epic reimagining of the world’s greatest musical, and we’re honored to be part of its journey around the world,” shared GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal in an official press statement. “Filipino audiences have always shown incredible passion for world-class theater, and we know ‘Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular’ will be unlike anything they’ve experienced before,” he continued.

The Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular is expanded from the Les Misérables The Staged Concert’s successful run in the West End, done in celebration of its 40th anniversary at the London Sondheim Theater. This run of the musical has also traveled to Australia with much critical acclaim, after premiering on European and UK stages in September 2024.

The forthcoming return of Les Misérables to Manila marks ten years since its last staging in the country, which also took place at The Theatre in Solaire. Performers previously included the Australian cast and ensemble, alongside Rachelle Ann Go in the role of Fantine.

The musical first premiered in Paris in 1980, with its English-language adaptation, with lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, produced by Cameron Mackintosh, running in London’s West End since October 1985. A critically acclaimed film adaptation was also released in 2012, starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried, among others.
