Laufey is officially releasing her first book, entitled Mei Mei The Bunny.

Published by Penguin Random House, the 32-page children’s picture book from the Grammy-winning jazz-pop hitmaker is described as being “about overcoming mistakes and believing in oneself.” It tells the story of Mei Mei, “a little bunny who dreams of making the world happy with her music,” as she takes on “her first recital at the H’Opera House.”

“Mei Mei has been a part of my life over the last few years and opening up the world around her has been the most beautiful exploration,” states Laufey in a post announcing the book, which features illustrations by Lauren O’Hara.

Mei Mei The Bunny is set to be released on April 21, 2026 (Tuesday). Pre-orders are now available via Penguin Random House at USD 18.99 per copy.

Notably, one dollar from each copy of Mei Mei The Bunny sold will benefit The Laufey Foundation — Laufey’s non-profit organization whose mission is to “expand access to youth music and orchestral programs” in order to “foster the next generation of musicians.” This comes after it was announced that the official plushie of Mei Mei will also see a donation of one dollar to the foundation for each sale made.
