James Reid is set to return to acting in the upcoming romantic-drama series Someone, Someday, produced by ABS-CBN and Dreamscape Entertainment, which will stream first globally on Netflix, while also writing new music for the show.
The project was unveiled at the Next on Netflix Philippines event on February 9, 2026, which showcased the streaming juggernaut’s slate of Filipino films and series for the year. Reid appeared on stage with co-leads Kathryn Bernardo and Maja Salvador, as well as directors Chad Vidanes and Dolly Dulu.
Someone, Someday explores modern romance and the digital dating landscape, weaving together themes of childhood friendship, unspoken love, and the search for “the one,” and a long-held secret.
Reid plays Jordan, a musician, much like himself, allowing him to bring his artistry into his long-awaited return to scripted television. This marks his first scripted series since Till I Met You in 2016, and his first television stint in over seven years following his role as a judge on Idol Philippines.
The series also marks major comebacks for its leads. Salvador returns to the screen following the birth of her child, while Bernardo headlines her first ABS-CBN teleserye since 2 Good 2 Be True in 2022.
As of this writing, details about Reid’s new music or an official soundtrack for the series have not yet been revealed.
The series will stream on Netflix globally 72 hours ahead of its free-to-air television broadcast when it premieres later in 2026.
